Diary, (Feb. 1934-Feb. 1936), written while Glathe was was working as a travelling salesman. It contains his impressions of the life of the people in the southern provinces of Yunan, Kwangsi and Kwangtung, social customs and religions. The diary is illustrated with approximately 160 black and white, and sepia photographs. Lao Tze's "Tao te ching": a bound working manuscript showing, for each paragraph of the work, the original Chinese text, the meaning of each ideogram, three classic translations, and Glathe's own translation (1995). Glathe was forced to abandon this undertaking owing to failing eye sight.
